With a bold contemporary home setting the backdrop, this landscape needed enough character to stand confidently alongside it, without competing for attention. Recycled brick with weathered mortar sit alongside aged steel, burnished concrete and hand glazed tiles, giving the garden a sense of age and permanence despite being entirely new.
The planting follows much the same philosophy. A transplanted Camellia sasanqua and tightly clipped Buxus sempervirens bring familiarity and structure, while Echinopsis pachanoi and Agave americana introduce something far less expected. It’s not a conventional cool climate combination, but with the right consideration, unexpected pairings can produce great results.

Strong structure, considered material choices and a refined planting palette came together effortlessly.

Coalbourn
Tasked with transforming an established cool climate garden that lacked direction, we stripped back overplanted areas and worked with the natural contours of the property. Completed over multiple stages and with great client collaboration, the result is five acres of detailed gardens, each with its own character. Japanese, perennial, native, contemporary and flowering gardens all come together, with no two garden beds planted the same.
With Morton National Park as the backdrop and a serene natural pool at its heart, the property feels both unique and completely at home in its surroundings. Detailed but natural, diverse but considered, this garden really is the essence of Morton Landscaping.

Village Cottage
A quaint cottage that sits comfortably among its early 1900's neighbours, this home needed a more refined landscape to reflect its modern inclusions.
A cobblestone driveway, architectural concrete outdoor kitchen and refined front fence introduce subtle contemporary details, setting this garden apart from the usual cottage suspects while still feeling completely at home in its surroundings.

Modern Farmhouse
Some projects are more challenging than others. Weather, soil conditions, drainage and access, the list goes on for this one.
Faced with plenty of challenges, a new garden took shape. Clipped Buxus sempervirens, large basalt boulders and a recycled brick pathway all sit in the shadow of a striking Xanthorrhoea glauca that greets you on arrival.
The planting palette is equally unique. Agave americana, Dietes grandiflora, Teucrium fruticans, Juniperus conferta and Beschorneria yuccoides come together in a garden that feels both structured and natural. An eclectic mix of plants and materials, but a result that feels completely at home.
